AUGUSTA, Ga. – A year's worth of golf is beginning to wind down in the Peach Belt Conference as teams approach the PBC Championships. It was a banner year for Georgia Southwestern golf after climbing to the top of the GolfStat rankings and capturing individual and team titles since school began. The Peach Belt Conference has also recognized the accomplishments of this season by awarding the Hurricanes with three awards.

Senior Craig Gibson was named to the PBC's First Team All-Conference. Gibson has led the Hurricanes in Peach Belt Conference play, which includes his fourth place finish at last week's Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University. He is fifth in the conference in scoring average, and he is tied for the second lowest round in the conference this season with his 65 in the last round of the Bobcat Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia College back in March.

Junior J.P. Griffin earned Second Team All-Conference honors from the PBC. Griffin's spring kicked off with his victory at the Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Jackson State back in February. Not only did his performance help the Hurricanes finish second in the tournament but the senior garnered Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honors for his victory. He has shot two of the top twenty individual rounds in the conference, which was highlighted by his 66 at the Aflac Cougar Invitational back in the fall of 2011.

Head Coach Andrew Danna was named the Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year. The second-year head coach oversaw a program that reached a top ranking in the GolfStat rankings and that reached as high as third in the nation in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll. Both of the accomplishments were first in GSW Golf history. Danna's 2011-12 team has posted six of the top 35 individual rounds, which also includes the best team score for a single round. The Hurricanes notched a conference best 279 in the third round of the Aflac Cougar Invitational in October.

The Hurricanes will look to put a stamp on the season as they participate in the PBC Championship this week in Columbus, Georgia.
