Griffin tied for 1st, Hurricanes in 2nd at D-I Tourney

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team finished Day 1 at the Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate in second place out of 14 teams on Sunday. J.P. Griffin led the Hurricane assult and tied for the tournament lead with a round of 2-over 74.

Southwestern finished a stroke behind Division I McNeese State University for the top spot in the team standings. Of the 14 schools in the tournament, 10 are NCAA D-I.

GSW teammates Craig Gibson and Nate Gahman fought through the less-than-ideal conditions as well at the par-72, 7128-yard Dancing Rabbit Golf Course, finishing tied for third, a stroke behind Griffin.

The Hurricanes wrap up the rain-shortened Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate with 18 holes on Monday morning.
