ALBANY, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted the lowest Round 2 score at the 11-team Doublegate Collegiate Invitational en route to a fourth place finish overall at the event that wrapped up play on Tuesday. Nicholas Ward took home All-Tournament honors as he led the Hurricanes with a 7-under 223 over three rounds to finish tied for third overall in the 58-player field.
Anders Olsson tied for eighth overall, a stroke behind Ward. Frasier Johnson tied for 12th with a 12-over 228 on the par-72, 7,024-yard Doublegate Country Club course. Jungsun Lee tied for 38th with a 241 and Nick Ray carded a 243.
The Hurricanes finished 10 strokes behind team champion Eastern Florida State (904). Central Alabama Community College and Darton State College tied for second place, seven strokes back. Dillon Board from Brewton-Parker College ran away with the individual title at 6-under par, finishing eight strokes ahead of Aksel Olsen from Wallace State Community College.
The Hurricanes return to the links on Monday for the Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta.
