EATONTON, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team battled Mother Nature and 17 other teams at the Bobcat Intercollegiate on Monday and struggled to post a 40-over par 320. With rain throughout the day and temps in the upper-40s, scores were uncharacteristically high for all participating teams. GSW tied for 16th place after Day 1.
Nicholas Ward led the Hurricanes with a 5-over 75 on Monday to tie for eighth overall in the 93-player field.
Frasier Johnson carded an 81 on the par-70, 6,847-yard Cuscowilla course on Lake Oconee. Anders Olsson, Nick Ray and Jungsun Lee matched each other with scores of 82.
The Hurricanes are 21 strokes behind team leader Clayton State. No. 8 Nova Southeastern and No. 9 Armstrong are tied for second place, four strokes back.
Fredrik Lindblom from Clayton State leads the individual standings at 1-under par, two strokes ahead of Shad Tuten from Armstrong.
The Hurricanes wrap up play at the Bobcat Intercollegiate with Tuesday's final round.
