AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern's Anders Olsson was honored by the Peach Belt Conference Thursday afternoon as the PBC Golfer of the week. This is the eighth time GSW has had a golfer of the week.
A native of Smyrna, Ga., Olsson carded two-above par to finish in a tie for 14th place Tuesday at Barry's Buccaneer Invitational in Miami Shores.
The sophomore shot rounds of 73, 68 and 74 to help the Hurricanes in a 13th-place finish in the 14-team field which featured two of the top-five ranked teams in the nation including #1 Barry and #4 Chico State.
Olsson was the low PBC finisher in the 14-team, 82-player field that featured five teams ranked in the current top 25. Olsson's second-round 68 was a season-low and tied for the second-lowest round of the day. His 215 total was just two strokes shy of his second top-10 finish of the season. Olsson is currently second on the team with a 75.07 stroke average.
The last GSW golfer to win Golfer of the Week was Andrew Ritchot, on April 4, 2013, at this same tournament when he had his first career top-five finish.
Georgia Southwestern will return to the links April 18 at the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Pine Mountain, Ga.
