Hurricanes At The Top Of The Leader Board After Round 1

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC.- The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team finished day one at the Newberry College Invitational with a team score of 297 after one round on the 72-par, 6682-yard course. The men are currently in 1st out of 18 teams by nine strokes.

Nicholas Ward leads the Canes with a score of 71 and is second overall in the individuals with a 1-under par. Chris Low sits tied for third shooting even with a score of 72. Anders Olsson is tied for seventh with a 4-over par score of 76. Hayes Dupree shot a 78 being 6-over par and Fraser Johnston was 10-over par with a score of 82.

The men started round two on Monday evening but due to weather it was postponed. Ward is +1 through 14 holes, Low +5 through 15, Olsson +6 through 15, Dupree +9 through 14 and Johnston +6 through 14. They will finish round two Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and move onto round three in the afternoon.
