AMERICUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team moved into the 17th spot in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll released last week by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The 17th-ranked Hurricanes are one of four Peach Belt Conference schools to appear in the NCAA DII national poll top 25. USC Aiken moved up one spot and is ranked second, Flagler moved into the sixth spot and Columbus is sitting in 15th.
The 'Canes were 21st in the last poll posted back in the beginning of March. Since then GSW has played in four tournaments finishing better each time.
"It's nice to see all the hard work the guys put in and all the up's and down's they go through pay off," commented head coach Darcy Donaldson. "We have not had a great Spring season, but it has been steady. The last few weeks I have seen a great improvement in different areas for each of the guys. Our best golf is yet to come and I am very excited to see what this group can do in the post season. "
The Hurricanes return to action April 17th for the Peach Belt Conference Championship at Greenwood Country Club in Greeenwood, S.C.
