Ward Named All-Southeast

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern men's golfer Nicholas Ward was named to the NCAA Division II PING All-Region Southeast Team on Wednesday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America. 

Ward capped off a successful sophomore season having five Top 10 finishes, three being in the top five and placed tied for 28th at the DII NCAA South/Southeast Regionals.

Ward took home third place at the North Georgia Fall Invitational, tied for third at the Rock Barn Collegiate Invite and placed fourth at the Newberry College Invitational.

The Eastbourne, England native ended the year seventh in the Peach Belt Conference with a 72.9 scoring average which places him second in GSW's lowest individual season scoring average.

Ward posted his lowest scoring round of 66 at the Bobcat Invite on March 16. He shot his second lowest round during Round 3 at NCAA Regionals of a 68. Of the 30 rounds played in his 2014-15 season, he finished under par 12 times.

Ward was named to the PBC All-Conference Second Team and Peach Belt All-Academic.

Ward is the fourth GSW golfer to receive PING All-Region accolades. He joins Craig Gibson (2010, 2012), JP Griffin (2012) and Nate Gahman (2013) in this honor.

A total of 116 players across eight regions - East, Atlantic, Southeast, South, Midwest, South Central, Central and West - earned PING All-Region honors for 2015.
