KIAWAH ISLAND, SC.- The No. 18 ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team is 1st of 13 teams after two rounds at the Newberry College Invitational at the historic Ocean Course at Kiawah Island on Monday.

GSW recorded a 589 team score after posting a 299 in Round 1 and a tournament low 290 in Round 2 on the 72-par, 6682-yard Ocean Course.

Host Newberry College is four strokes behind the Hurricanes and Peach Belt Conference foe Montevallo University is tied for sixth with a 609 two-round score.

Junior Ethan Chamineak leads the 67 player field with a 3-under, two-round 141. Chamineak shot a 71 in Round 1 and posted a tournament low 70 in Round 2.

Tyler Barker is six strokes behind teammate Chamineak shooting a 76 in Round 1 and a tournament low 71 in Round 2 to sit tied for sixth overall.

Nicholas Ward, Anders Olsson and Hayes Dupree all posted two-round scores of 151 and are tied for 17th. Ward shot a 78 in Round 1 and improved in Round 2 with a 73, Olsson shot a 75 and 76 and Dupree, who is playing as an individual, posted a 73 and 78. Fraser Johnston sits tied for 40th with a two-round score of 156.

The Hurricanes begin their final round of play Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
