Golf Ranked 17th In NCAA DII And 3rd In Southeast Region

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Nationally Ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team has moved up one spot and is now ranked 17th in NCAA Division II and third in the Southeast Region in the recent Golfstat Relative Ranking that came out on Wednesday.

Ethan Chamineak is ranked 16th in NCAA DII and third in the Southeast Region with a scoring average of 70.86. Chamineak has played in five tournament this season and has three Top-10 finishes including a tie for second at the Montevallo Invitational and placing second at the Newberry College Invitational.

Nicholas Ward has played in five tournaments to record a scoring average of 72.29 which ranks him 57th in NCAA DII and 14th in the Southeast Region. Ward has two Top-10 finishes; he tied for ninth at the UNG Fall Invitational and tied for eighth at the Newberry College Invitational.

Hayes Dupree has two Top-10 finishes in the five tournaments he has played in this season. He tied for ninth at the Montevallo Invite and tied for seventh at the McDounough Cup. Dupree is ranked 51st in NCAA DII and 16th in the Southeast Region with a scoring average of 72.43.

Two other Peach Belt Conference schools join GSW in the Top 25 NCAA DII including USC Aiken at No. 8  and Flagler at No. 12.

Saint Leo University is ranked first followed by Chico State while defending National Champions Nova Southeastern is 4th.

The Hurricanes won their second tournament of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday at the Newberry College Invitational. GSW posted a 3-Round 883 (299, 290, 294) team score to finish 13 strokes ahead of the 13-team field.

GSW's first win was at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational back in September after posting a 2-Round 564 to finish ten strokes ahead of the nine-team field. 

The Hurricanes are back on the links Monday and Tuesday for the South/Southeast Region Preview hosted by St. Leo University at at El Campeon in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
