Nationally Ranked Golf Heads To PBC Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- The No. 18 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team will be competing in the 25th annual Peach Belt Conference championship this weekend at the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. 

GSW is one of four Top-25 teams ranked in the Golfstat Relative Rankings including No. 12 USC Aiken, No. 15 Flagler and No. 25 Young Harris. The remaining 11-team field consists of Lander, Columbus State, Armstrong State, Clayton State, Georgia College, North Georgia and Montevallo.

The Hurricanes will compete in the three day, 54-hole tournament starting Friday playing 18 holes each day. The GSW starters are Ethan Chamineak, Nicholas Ward, Anders Olsson, Fraser Johnston and Hayes Dupree.

Chamineak is second in the PBC in stroke average at 72.42.

Last year the Hurricanes placed 8th of 12 teams despite climbing two spots after 12 holes in the third round before the rain took over and their scorecards were nullified. GSW finished with a team score of 587 after just two rounds.

GSW was 21 strokes behind the tournament winners Flagler College who finished with a two-round 566. USC Aiken took second with a 568 and Young Harris finished third with a 573.

Dupree lead the Hurricanes and finished tied for seventh posting a two-round score of 142. Dupree shot 71 in both rounds finishing 2-under par. Ward finished tied for 28th with an overall score of 147. Chris Low finished tied for 32nd with a two-round score of 148. Olsson finished with an overall total of 151 to tie for 43rd. Johnston finished tied for 46th with a combined total of 158.
