MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.- Vincent Norrman fired a one-under par 71 in Round 1 at the University of North Alabama Classic to sit tied for ninth of 96 golfers and lead the Georgia Southwestern men's golf team to sit seventh of 18 teams on Monday.

GSW posted a 297 in the first round at the NCAA DII South/Southeast Region Preview at the RTJ Fighting Joe 72-par, 7,126-yard course.

The Hurricanes are playing against eight other teams ranked in the Top-50 of the latest NCAA Division II Golfstat Relative Rankings Report. No. 32 Carson-Newman leads the tournament after one round with a four-under par 284. No. 9 North Alabama is three strokes behind the leaders and No. 24 Limestone sits in third with a 290. 

GSW sits second of the five Peach Belt Conference teams competing, just one stroke behind No. 23 Young Harris.

Ethan Chamineak sits two strokes behind Norrman posting a 73 to sit tied for 20th and Nicholas Ward is tied for 40th with a 76. Tyler Barker and Alex Wells both posted 77's to sit tied for 50th.

Round 2 was suspended due to weather and will resume Tuesday morning with Round 3 to follow.

The NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional that will be played at the RTJ course on May 7-10.
