GSW Wins Hurricane Invitational, Ward And Chamineak Second

ALBANY, Ga. -Seniors Nicholas Ward and Ethan Chamineak led the Georgia Southwestern men's golf team to capture the title at the second annual Hurricane Invitational on Tuesday.

GSW fired a tournament low two-under par 286 in Round 2 to stay first of eight teams on the par 72, 7,024-yard course at Doublegate Country Club. The Hurricanes finished with a two-round 580 to sit 20 shots ahead of the next team. Emmanuel College posted a 295 in Round 2 to move up two sports and finish second with an overall 600. West Alabama posted a 301 in both rounds to finish third.

Ward and Chamineak both fired 70's in Round 2 to move up four spots and finish tied for second of 46 players with a two-round score of 144. Alex Wells and Vincent Norrman both shot a 73 in Round 1 and Round 2 to finish tied for seventh. Tyler Barker posted a 75 in Round 2 to move up one spot and finish 11th with a two-round 151. Nix Duncan, who played as an individual, finished tied for 24th with a two-round 157 and Fraser Johnston, who also played as an individual, finished tied for 38th with a 163.

The Hurricanes are off until April 14 when they head to St. Augustine, Fla. for the Peach Belt Conference Championship at World Golf Village Slammer & The Squire Course.
