On The Road Friday: Golf Travels To St. Augustine, Fla. For The PBC Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team heads to the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Championship at the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Village hosted by Flagler College.

The tournament returns to the par 72, 6,939-yard course for a second straight year with all 11 PBC teams in action. The Hurricanes are one of nine Top-50 teams ranked in the latest Golfstat Relative Rankings including No. 6 Lander, No. 16 USC Aiken, No. 18 Young Harris, No. 19 Flagler, No. 27 Georgia College, No. 32 Columbus State, No. 37 GSW, No. 38 Montevallo and No. 42 Clayton State. The remaining two schools are Armstrong and North Georgia.

The tournament will consist of three rounds with 18 holes each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Last year the Hurricanes finished fourth with a three-round 898 to tie their best PBC Championship finish. Ethan Chamineak made All-Tournament posting a three-round, one-under par 215 to finish tied for second which placed him as the highest individual conference finish in GSW history.

Nicholas Ward moved up six spots on the last day to finish tied for 14th with a three-round 225, his best PBC tournament finish yet. Anders Olsson finished one stroke behind Ward posting a 226 to finish tied for 16th, his best PBC Championship finish. Hayes Dupree finished tied for 41st with a three-round 235 and Fraser Johnston posted a tournament low 78 in Round 3 to finish tied for 47th.

GSW finished six strokes behind third place USC Aiken and were 23 stokes behind Flager College who took second. Columbus State captured the win with a three-round 873.

Currently, Chamineak is 10th in the Southeast region and 31st in the Nation according to the latest Golfstat Relative Rankings. He is second in the PBC with four Top-5 finishes this season and is also fourth in the PBC with a 72.48 stroke average. He has been named the PBC Player of the Week three times this season.

Vincent Norrman is ranked 27th in the Southeast region and has a pair of Top-10 finishes.

Joining Chamineak and Norrman to represent the Hurricanes are senior Nicholas Ward who has a Top-10 and a Top-5 finish so far this year, sophomore Tyler Barker who was named PBC co-Freshman of the Year in 2016 and freshman Alex Wells.
