DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern men's golfer Vincent Norrman shot an opening round 3-under par 69 to tie his career low and followed with a 70 in the second round on Monday to lead the Hurricanes on Day 1 at the 13-team, 76-player UNG Fall Invitational held at Achasta Golf Club. GSW closed out the day tied for 8th place with Norrman (139) tied for 2nd on the individual leaderboard, just one stroke behind leader Joseph Jarrard of North Georgia.
The Hurricanes posted a 296 as a team in the morning and improved with a 293 in the afternoon (589) on the par 72, 6,967-yard course to finish the day 17 strokes behind leader Lander University (572).
Host North Georgia currently sits in second place (576), followed by Lee University (577), Newberry College (579) and Young Harris (580).
Nix Duncan (75-76), Ryan Cahill (74-77) and Wil Hernandez (81-70) are all tied for 36th after each carded a 7-over 151, while Oly Brown turned in an 11-over 155 (78-77) to tie for 56th.
Tomorrow's third and final round will start at 9 a.m. in shotgun format.
