DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern men's golfer Ryan Cahill fired a career best 6-under par 66 on Tuesday to lead the Hurricanes to a third place finish at the 13-team, 76-player UNG Fall Invitational held at Achasta Golf Club.

The 66 shattered Cahill's previous low round of 72 and tied for the second best round in Hurricane golf history.

GSW (868) posted a 279 as a team on the par 72, 6,967-yard course to finish the tournament six strokes behind winner Newberry College (862) and one stroke behind runner-up Lander (867).

The 279 was the best round of the day and helped the Hurricanes jump five spots in the final standings after finishing day one in a tie for eighth place.

Vincent Norrman followed up a 5-under par first day with a 1-under 71 to finish the tournament in fourth place on the individual leaderboard (210). Carlos Leandro of Newberry College took medalist honors at 208 with a round of 68 on the final day.     

Nix Duncan (75-76-71) and Wil Hernandez (81-70-71) both carded a 71 to move up 11 spots and finish tied for 25th, while Oly Brown turned in his second consecutive round of 5-over par (78-77-77) to tie for 54th.

Carson-Newman finished in fourth place (873), followed by host North Georgia (874), Young Harris College (875) and Lee University (878).
