For the second straight game, the GSW men's soccer team was on the losing end of an overtime thriller.   The ‘Canes dropped a 2-1 decision to UNC Pembroke on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field in front of a school record 147 fans.

The only score from UNCP (7-8-1, 1-4 PBC) in regulation came just 3:12 into the contest when Miguel Ferrer took a shot near the top of the box that snuck through the GSW defense.

The ‘Canes tied the match in the 64th minute when sophomore Sam Hooke found Quinton Elmore on a cross for the fresman's first collegiate goal.

In the third minute of overtime, Carlos Cipriano took a Rondell Honora pass to the middle of the box and knocked it through the defense for the game-winner.

UNCP outshot GSW 14-6 and held a 5-0 corner kick advantage.

GSW goalkeeper John Scharnikow stopped six. UNCP goalie Tom Courtney finished with three saves.

The Hurricanes (3-13, 1-4 PBC) wrap up the regular season on Saturday, November 1, with Senior Day.  North Georgia comes to town for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
