3-1 an unlucky combination for GSW

Georgia Southwestern dropped a pair of matches to Brewton-Parker on Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field, falling 3-1 in the women's match and 3-1 in the men's contest.

All four goals in the match were scored in the final 18:06. 

After Kim Firth knocked in a free kick from the middle of the field, 35 yards out, to put the visitors on the board, Brittney Hill scored her third goal of the season four minutes later off a header from just outside the left post.  Faith DeSantiago hit the crossing shot and picked up her first assist. 

Kelsey Black converted a penalty kick for Brewton-Parker (2-1) in the 83rd minute and tacked on an insurance goal at the 88:42 mark.

BPC outshot the Hurricanes 14-12. However, Southwestern (2-2) had two more shots on goal(6-4) than the Lady Barons.

The Lady Hurricanes host Columbia College (S.C.) on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Brewton-Parker 3, GSW Men 1

Henry Guigou scored in the 18th minute and struck again at the 61:51 mark to give the visiting Barons a two goal cushion midway through the second half. 

Jesse Davis would score his first goal of the season in the 80th minute to pull the Hurricanes within a goal.

Fabian Moreira launched a shot from 25 yards out that found its way over GSW goalkeeper David Porley with 54 seconds left in the match to round out the scoring.  

Southwestern dominated in several statistical categories, outshooting Brewton-Parker 24-8 and leading 10-2 in corner kicks. However, BPC left Americus with the victory.

The Hurricanes (0-5) host St. Leo on Friday at 4 p.m.
