AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team had no answer for Rasmus Arousell on Sunday afternoon. The Middle Georgia State College midfielder scored three goals and added an assist as GSW lost 5-1 at Hurricane Field in the non-conference matchup.

The Hurricanes fall to 3-3-2 overall, suffering their first defeat in six matches. It marks the longest stretch without a loss in program history. Middle Georgia has won two in a row and improves to 3-3.

After a scoreless opening 31 minutes, Arousell notched his second goal of the season off a cross from Mattias Rosell to put MGA ahead, 1-0.

Arousell quickly made it a 2-0 game when he dribbled around two defenders and scored at the 34:28 mark.

The Knights scored off a corner kick in the 51st minute before Arousell made his hat trick complete in the 62nd minute off a pass from Andrew Preston.

Preston followed with the Knights final goal in the 66th minute, putting MGA ahead 5-0.

The Hurricanes got on the board minutes later when Jon-Luke Cannada punched in a shot from Silvio Polly that had bounced off the right post to notch his first goal of the season.

GSW finished with five shots on goal, compared to nine for MGA, four of which belonged to Arousell.

MGA held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Southwestern goalkeeper Garrett Blamire (2-3-2) saved three in 65 minutes of action before making way for Joshua Swift, who stopped one shot over the final 25 minutes of play.

MGA starting goalie Evan Pidgeon stopped one before being relieved by Tevin West for the final 30 minutes. West saved three and allowed the 'Canes lone goal.

GSW resumes Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. match at Flagler College.
