DAHLONEGA, Ga. - A second half goal from Georgia Southwestern forward Silvio Polly forced overtime at North Georgia on Saturday afternoon, but a converted penalty kick by UNG in overtime send GSW home with its third straight defeat.      

Southwestern's record drops to 1-6-2 overall, 0-3-1 in the PBC, while North Georgia earned its first conference win of the season to improve its mark to 2-8-1 overall and 1-3 in PBC play.

UNG put the Hurricanes in a hole early when Amin El-Shami headed in a free kick in the eighth minute.

The Nighthawks took their 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Just as UNG scored inside of the eighth minute of the opening period, GSW answered inside the eighth minute of the second half as Polly evened the match when he dribbled his way around UNG defenders in the box and shot past the keeper inside the far post.

The 1-1 score held up through the end of regulation.

The Hurricanes were whistled for a foul in the box less than three minutes into overtime and Daniel Bowlt converted the penalty kick to the give the Nighthawks the victory.

The teams finished tied in shots on goal (6-6) and corner kicks (5-5).

Joshua Swift saved four shots for GSW. Victor Ohlin stopped five for UNG.

The Hurricanes host Montevallo on Wednesday in a 1 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match against the Falcons.
