AMERICUS - A goal from Paco Craig in the 62nd minute proved to be the difference in allowing 16th-ranked Young Harris College to escape Hurricane Field with a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over a feisty Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

GSW's record drops to 1-8-2 overall, 0-5-1 in the PBC, while Young Harris remained perfect in conference play at 5-0 and improved its overall mark to 10-2.

Craig gave the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when he headed in a corner kick from Lewis Hilton.

YHC took their 1-0 lead into the halftime break as the Hurricanes defense fought off repeated attempts by the Mountain Lions to expand the margin.

Chris Steinwachs delivered the equalizer in the 58th minute for GSW when he took a long pass from Brennan Baushka inside the near post and quickly punched it past the keeper for his third goal of the season.

The Hurricanes gave YHC all they could handle, but Craig struck again with the game winner on a pass down the middle of the box from Marco Micaletto.

YHC finished with a substantial edge in shots on goal (13-1) and corner kicks (11-0).

Garrett Blamire turned away 11 shots for GSW. Jordan Bradshaw did not record a save for YHC.

The Hurricanes travel to Clayton State on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. PBC match against the Lakers.
