AMERICUS -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team remained undefeated after two late scores pushed the Hurricanes past Concordia College Alabama, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

GSW improved its record to 3-0-1 and solidified its start as the most successful in program history. Concordia suffered its first loss of the season and fell to 3-1-1.

It took until the 73rd minute to break a scoreless match, but Julian Rugel led Silvio Polly with a pass through the Hornets defensive line that he tracked down along the right side of the 18-yard box and took in to beat the keeper with a shot inside the right pipe for a goal, his third of the season.

Some precise passing led to the final goal of the afternoon when Divin Moke beat his defender along the left side end line in the 85th minute and crossed the ball to Pedro Chung up from the far post who delivered a one touch pass back to the middle of the box where Dylan Marshall popped a shot over the keeper for his second goal of the fall.  

Concordia outshot GSW, 12-8, in the match, but the Hurricanes put more attempts on goal, doubling up the Hornets, 6-3. GSW held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks and Concordia committed one more foul (5-4). Goalkeeper Joshua Swift turned in his first clean sheet of the fall and the third of his GSW career.

Up Next: GSW has postponed its home match with Point University on Tuesday due to the pending storm, leaving a trip to Faulkner University on Sept. 16 as the next scheduled date for the Hurricanes.
