GSW director of athletics Mike Leeder has hired Eric Crawford to be the school's next head men's soccer coach. Crawford comes to Georgia Southwestern from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., where he served for three seasons as an assistant coach for the RiverHawks.
For the second straight match. GSW allowed a pair of second half goals, perhaps none more crushing than the shot by Clayton State University's Hector Gutierrez in the 88th minute Saturday afternoon that sent the Hurricanes home with a 3-2 defeat in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both schools at Laker Field.
The GSW men's soccer team surrendered a pair of goals in the opening 16 minutes and despite a late flurry of offense, could not catch Middle Georgia State University in a 2-1 loss at Hurricane Field on Wednesday evening.
The GSW men's soccer team opened its 2018 regular season with a 3-1 loss at Warner University on Thursday evening at Royals Field. Senior transfer Matheus Alves took a feed from junior Dylan Marshall in the 12th minute for the Hurricanes lone goal.
GSW will play eight matches at home (five Saturdays, three midweek contests), with the first match in Americus coming on Sept. 5, in a historic opener against Brewton-Parker College as the 7 p.m. start marks the first home match under the lights in school history. GSW will play seven of its eight home contests at 5 p.m. or later this fall.
