AMERICUS, Ga. -- An on-the-mark kick from approximately 50 yards out with the Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team out of position in the 79th minute was the difference in a 2-1 loss to Talladega College on Saturday evening at Hurricane Field.

Talladega's Isamnia Cohen delivered the blow when Renan Dinis fed a breakaway pass to the Tornadoes leading scorer after intercepting a corner kick attempt by Georgia Southwestern. With GSW out of position on its offensive end, Cohen found himself in a one-on-one situation with GSW's keeper Francesco Bazzano, who was up near the top of the 18-yard box. Cohen lofted a shot over the outstretched hand of a leaping Bazzano and it bounced into the back of the net.  

Matheus Severino put GSW in a hole early as he gave the Tornadoes a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.

The Hurricanes tied the match at 46:13 when Caleb Zolman took a long throw in from J.P. Merlet, turned and floated a shot from the left corner of the 18-yard box inside the far post for his second goal of the season. 

Talladega finished with a 12-6 shots on goal advantage. GSW held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks but doubled the Tornadoes in fouls, 18-9.

The Hurricanes dropped their second straight match to fall to 2-3-1 overall this season while Talladega improved to 3-1 as the two teams met for the first time since 2013. Talladega has won all three meetings in the series and all three matches have been decided by a one goal differential.
