AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams suffered 9-0 setbacks to Lander University on Friday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.
GSW MEN 0, #10 LANDER 9
The Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team was unable to defeat its second-straight ranked team and lost 9-0 to NCAA Division II No. 10 Lander on Friday. The Hurricanes defeated the 10th-ranked NAIA program, Shorter University, on Tuesday.
Yvan Ruelle and Valentin Demande from GSW took the 11th-ranked doubles team of Oscar Axelsson and Adam Jonsson to a tiebreak at No. 1, eventually falling 9-8.
On the singles side, Ryan Bartz at No. 4 had the closest match, playing Samuel Poutignat to a score of 6-7, 3-6.

Lander improves to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the PBC. GSW is drops to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in PBC play. The Hurricanes travel to Atlanta on Sunday to meet Division I Georgia State in a non-conference affair at 6 p.m.

The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team suffered 9-0 defeat at the hands of Lander (5-4, 2-1 PBC) on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Hurricanes' (3-4, 1-2 PBC) best opportunity for a point against the Lady Bearcats, came at No. 5 singles where Mollie McGowan dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision to Eliza Adusumilli. Kalie Douberly lost a first-set tiebreak to Brandi Cordell at No. 2 singles for GSW before dropping the second set 6-3.
In doubles action, Carly Cangelosi and Ginny Jones had a strong showing at No. 1 for GSW, but came up short in an 8-6 loss.
