Blythe And Marshall Win At No. 1 Doubles Against Mercer

MACON, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team lost 7-0 to NCAA Division I Mercer University on Thursday afternoon at LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

Steven Blythe and Oliver Marshall won 7-5 in their No. 1 doubles match. Alex Canovas Ferrando and  Beau Millwood put up a tough effort in No. 2 doubles but lost 6-4.

Unlike Division II competition where the winning side in each of the three doubles matches is awarded a point in the team results, Division I gives one point to the school winning the majority - or all - of the three doubles matches.

In singles play, Blythe dropped his first set at No. 1, 6-1, but pushed Sam Philip in the second set before falling, 7-5.

The Hurricanes fall to 0-2 this season and head to Rome, Ga., to play Shorter University on Saturday.
