Blythe Chops Down A Pair Of Ranked Opponents

AMERICUS - Sophomore Steven Blythe had himself quite a Saturday as he had a hand in both of the Georgia Southwestern men's tennis team points in a 7-2 loss to 14th-ranked Flagler College at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.

Blythe and his doubles partner, Oliver Marshall, pulled the first upset of the day with an 8-6 win over the NCAA Division II fifth-ranked twosome, Kevin Gonzalez and Lukas Storck. Blythe followed that performance with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over the 34th-ranked singles player, Hermann Gertmann.

The women lost, 9-0, to 10th-ranked Flagler.

GSW returns to the courts on Sunday with matches against Armstrong State University at 10 a.m.

GSW WOMEN 0, (#10) FLAGLER 9

The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team had its overall record dip to 4-12 this spring and conference mark to 0-7 after a 9-0 loss to 10th-ranked Flagler College on Saturday. Flagler remained undefeated in conference play at 7-0 and improved to 15-3 overall.
