Hurricanes Finish Fifth at Willie Laster Meet

ALBANY, Ga. — Daniel Iordanov led the Georgia Southwestern State University men's cross country team for the second time this season at the Willie Laster Invitational, on Saturday morning. Iordanov, paced the Hurricanes by completing the 8K course on the Albany State campus in 33:20.0, to take 24th place.

Luke Daniels crossed the finish line second for GSW on Saturday with a time of 34:19.7, good for 30th place. Lars Nilsen took 34th place in 34:59.2. Gavin Guion (37:11.3) and Brady Rankin (37:23.5) finished back to back for the Hurricanes in 37th and 38th respectively. The top five finish was the Hurricanes first top five of the season.

Tallahassee CC had the top runner in the race and five of the top 10 runners overall, giving them the individual win and the team title. Brewton-Parker finised second in the team event with 53 points, 23 behind Tallahassee CC. Georgia Military College (75) took home third place ahead of Fort Valley State (85).

The Hurricanes finished with 143 points, 17 ahead of sixth place South Georgia College. 

Leo Rutledge from Tallahassee CC crossed the finish line first with a time of 26:16.1.
