Bobcats Sweep Lady 'Canes

Milledgeville, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern softball team traveled to Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia College on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader. The Lady 'Canes fell to the Bobcats in both games. 

GAME 1: GC 3 - GSW 2

The Lady Hurricanes fell early with two runs being scored on them early in the bottom of the first inning.

The Lady 'Canes were able to finally make a run on the score board in the third inning after a fielding error allowed Hayley Knight to reach base then with two walks followed. Jordan Miller was able to bat in Knight for the first run.

Georgia College was able to add one more run to the scoreboard in the fifth inning.

The Lady 'Canes returned one more run in the following inning when a single placed Lauren Thrasher on base. Then Ashley Clifton hit a double to allow Thrasher to come home safely.

Thraher finished the game with two hits off of three at bats.

Allison Pastor (12-9) takes credit for the loss after pitching all six innings and giving up five hits and three runs. 

Georgia College's Carly Lewis (14-7) takes the win after pitching seven innings and only giving up two runs and seven hits.

 

GAME 2: GC 4 - GSW 

The Bobcats were able to put the first runs on the board in the second inning after Humphries hit a double then Najafi hit a single to left center allowing Humphries to make it home safely. 

The Bobcats were able to get two more runs in the fifth inning after another double and then an error by the Hurricanes allowed in the runs. In the bottom of the sixth GC finished things off with one more run as a single homerun was hit by Humphries.

Ashley Cavender takes credit for the loss after pitching six innings and giving up four runs and seven hits while striking out two. 

Georgia College's Marisa Boyette pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs. This shutout resulted with seven strikeouts.

 

The Lady 'Canes play again on Sunday April 6th against Georgia Regents University for a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
