No. 1 Ranked Valdosta State Sweeps Lady 'Canes

VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's softball team (15-25) were swept Wednesday by NCAA DII No. 1 ranked Valdosta State at Steel's Diamond.

GAME 1: GSW 1, VSU 6

Lauren Thrasher did all she could to give the Lady 'Canes a boost with her eighth home run of the season in the second inning, but it wasn't enough to get past Valdosta State. The Blazers scored one in the first and five in the third starting with a 2 run homer.

GSW finished the game with two hits, one run, one RBI and one error.

Haley Goodson (4-12) took the loss for the Lady 'Canes after pitching four innings. She gave up ten hits, six runs, walked one and struck out two.

Brittany Childs pitched two innings, gave up one hit, zero runs, walked zero and struck out zero.

GAME 2: GSW 0, VSU 8

Valdosta State proved why they are ranked No. 1 in DII as they closed out game two in five innings. They scored one in the second, four in the third, three in the fourth and allowed no runs from the Lady 'Canes to take the 8-0 victory.

GSW finished the game with two hits, zero runs, zero RBIs and two errors.

Savannah Carlisle (6-10) took the loss for GSW after pitching 3.2 innings. She gave up eight hits, eight runs, walked two and stuck out one .

Childs pitched .1 innings, gave up two hits, zero runs, walked zero and struck out zero.

The Lady 'Canes are on the road Friday to face Young Harris College in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
