Softball's Tierce Honored As PBC Freshman Of The Week

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern softball third baseman/pitcher Hayley Tierce has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week.

Tierce registered a .522 batting average with four doubles, three home runs and 19 RBIs over eight games. Her first of three home runs was the first for the Lady 'Canes this season. She also added nine innings of work in the circle, earning a 2-0 record and striking out 12 to finish with a 0.78 ERA.

The Warner Robins, Ga., native leads the PBC in RBIs (20), is second in home runs (3) and fifth in slugging percentage (.800).

Tierce becomes the program's fifth player to earn one of the PBC's weekly honors and the first since Allison Pastor was named Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 12, 2013.

The Lady Hurricanes will be back in action Wednesday when they host Columbus State in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
