Martin Gets 6 RBIs In Brewton-Parker Split

MT. VERNON, Ga.- Joshlyn Martin had six RBIs between two games for the Georgia Southwestern softball team in their split with Brewton-Parker Friday afternoon at Barron Field. The Lady 'Canes lost game one 6-5 and came back to win game two 12-2.

GAME 2: GSW 5, BP 6

The Lady 'Canes had a four run inning at the top of the third to secure the lead. Hannah McCain kicked things off for GSW with a single. A groundout by Nikki Graham then moved McCain from first to second. Barlow doubled, scoring McCain and Erin Steele. The scoreboard lit up again for the Lady 'Canes when Barlow scored on an RBI double by Hayley Tierce and Haley Goodson scored on an RBI single by Martin.

McCain scored again for the Lady 'Canes in the fourth off a single from Barlow to give GSW a five run cushion.

The Lady 'Canes still led 5-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh and in a turn of events Brewton-Parker tied the game with no outs. E. Jones singled, advanced to second off a walk, moved to third off an error and scored on a walk.

With bases loaded and no outs Clinton hit a 4 RBI home run to tie the game and head into extra inning where H. Smith scored off a single to win the game.

GSW's finished with 11 hits, five runs, five RBIs and one error.

Savannah Carlisle pitched six innings, had three hits, three runs, walked seven and struck out two.

Goodson pitched 1.2 innings, had three hits, two runs, walked one and struck out three.

GAME 2: GSW 12, BP 2

The Lady 'Canes scored five runs in the fourth. Ella Hawkins scored off an error, Allee Denney scored off a single from Graysen Sanders and Martin hit a 3-run double to bring in Sanders, Steele and Barlow.

Brewton-Parker scored two in the fifth off an error and a single.

GSW added two more runs in the top of the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Martin singled, scoring Erin Steele and Denney's double brought home Martin.

The Lady 'Canes had five more runs in the fourth off an RBI double by Sanders, an RBI single by Martin, a two-run single by Lacy Striblin, and an RBI double by Denney.

GSW finished with 12 hits, 12 runs, 12 RBI and one error.

Kaley Sikes (1-1) pitched seven innings, had seven hits, two runs, walked two and struck out three.

The Lady 'Canes are home Saturday for Homecoming to host Southern Wesleyan in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
