No. 19 Young Harris Rallies Late To Sweep GSW

AMERICUS, Ga.- No. 19 Young Harris College won both games against the Georgia Southwestern softball team on Friday afternoon at Lady 'Canes field.

GSW is now 22-20 overall and 6-8 in the Peach Belt Conference while Young Harris moved to 23-9 and 9-3 in the PBC.

GAME 1: GSW 0, YHC 4

The Mountain Lions scored one run in the first off a walk and had a three-run double in the seventh to take the win.

GSW finished with three hits, no runs, no RBIs and two errors.

Brittany Childs (L, 5-6) pitched seven innings, had five hits, four runs, walked eight and struck out four.

GAME 2: GSW 5, YHC 6

The Lady 'Canes jumped out to an early lead in the first when Allee Denney doubled to right center to plate Hayley Tierce. GSW scored two more in the third, Ella Hawkins scored off a single from Denney and Joshlyn Martin scored off double from Haley Warner.

At the top of the fourth Young Harris had a two-run homer to fall behind by one run.

Tierce hit a double in the fifth to plate Mikela Barlow and scored off a fielders choice to take a two-run lead.

The Mountain Lions hit another two-run homer in the sixth and scored two more in the seventh to win by one.

GSW finished with eight hits, five runs, five RBIs and two errors.

Haley Goodson (L, 9-10)  pitched 6.2 innings, had 12 hits, six runs, walked one and struck out two.

Kaley Sikes pitched 0.1 innings, had no hits, no runs, walked two and struck out none.

The Lady 'Canes are away on Tuesday to play a non-conference doubleheader against Valdosta State starting at 4 p.m.
