AMERICUS, Ga.- The 2016 Georgia Southwestern softball program has seen four broken NCAA era individual season records.

Freshman Hayley Tierce hit her 15th home run of the season on April 2 to break the season home run record and extended the record to 16 on April 8. The previous record was 14 held by Keri Tompkins set last year.

The GSW NCAA era record for most home runs in a career is 19 held by Tompkins.

On March 20 Tierce broke the season RBI record when she recorded three in one game to get her 40th RBI. Since then Tierce has extended the record to 51. The previous record was 38 set by Tompkins last year.

The GSW NCAA era career RBI record is 92 held by Rachel McElroy.

Tierce is ranked sixth in the NCAA DII for home runs and 19th for RBIs in the latest stat report.

Tierce leads the Peach Belt Conference in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage (.841) and total bases (116). She is ranked third in batting average (.406) and fourth for on base percentage (.497).

Sophomore Mikela Barlow has broken two GSW NCAA era season records as well. On March 25 Barlow hit her 16th double to break the season doubles record and has hit two more since to extend the record to 18.

The previous doubles record was 15 held in a tie by Gabby Buck (2010), Janna Anderson (2013) and Avery Purser (2013).

Barlow is currently eighth in the GSW NCAA era doubles career record. Buck leads with 30, McElroy is second with 29 and Purser is third with 23.

On April 8 Barlow had her 57th hit to break the season record for most hits and three days later she extended it to 58 with the same swing that broke the doubles record.

The GSW NCAA era career hits record is 189 held by Buck.

Barlow is ranked 42nd in the NCAA DII for doubles and leads the Peach Belt in doubles and total plate appearances (191). She is sixth in the PBC for hits, seventh in RBIs (37) and eighth for batting average (.379).

GSW has four more games for these two Lady 'Canes to keep extending their records.
