Three Named To PBC Softball All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern softball players Erin Steele, Haley Goodson and Savannah Carlisle have received the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic honors for softball and were named to the All-Academic Team on Wednesday.

The All-Academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.

Carlisle picks up her first All-Academic Honorable Mention honors. The senior Fortson, Ga. native appeared in 17 games this season, pitched 30.2 innings in nine games, has four hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Goodson is also making her first appearance on the PBC All-Academic Honorable Mention honors list. The senior Ariton, Ala. native has played in 47 games so far this season, has pitched 144 innings in 27 games, has 25 hits, 11 runs, four doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Steele is making her third appearance as a PBC All-Academic honoree. She was named a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar as a freshman, a Silver Scholar as a sophomore and a Presidential Scholar as a junior. The senior Covington, Ga. native has played in 45 games so far this season, has 40 hits, 24 runs, two doubles and five RBIs.
