Tierce Named Peach Belt Conference Player Of The Week

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern softball third baseman and shortstop Hayley Tierce has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week as announced on Monday.

Tierce led the Lady Hurricanes to a 6-0 week with a .529 batting average and 1.235 slugging percentage.  The sophomore blasted three home runs and had nine RBIs in the six games. She went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs in the opener against Middle Georgia. She was 2-for-3 with a triple and two more RBIs in game two against Emmanuel and 3-for-5 with a double in the second game against LaGrange.

The 2016 PBC Freshman of the Year, Tierce was also impressive in the field with just one error in 28 chances at short and third with 20 assists and two double plays turned. She is fourth in the PBC in home runs, seventh in slugging and ninth in total bases.

Tierce recently broke the GSW NCAA DII era career record for most home runs with her 20th on Sunday in the win against LaGange.

The Lady Hurricanes are away on Tuesday afternoon to play Albany State in a non-conference doubleheader at 2 p.m.
