Reynolds scores final five FGs; GSW stuns Georgia College

Georgia Southwestern got a signature win at home Wednesday night as the Lady Hurricanes had four players score in double figures led by Brittany Reynolds' 18 as they stunned Georgia College, 73-61.

GSW remained tied for the fourth spot in the West Division as Montevallo beat North Georgia. Georgia College was tied with Clayton State for the top spot entering Wednesday's slate.

The Lady Hurricanes (11-13, 6-8 PBC) led by as many as 21 in the first half, and they used a 16-0 run midway through the half to build a 25-8 lead.

Whitley Wiltz drove from past half court in less than four seconds and scored a layup to give GSW a 39-21 lead at the half.

Georgia College (17-7, 10-4) shot a dismal 19 percent in the first half while GSW shot 47 percent and made 5 of 10 threes.

The Lady Hurricanes had a 26-13 edge in rebounds at the half and 51-33 overall.

GCSU's Chimere Jordan came alive in the second half, single-handedly bringing the Lady Bobcats back. She scored 20 of her game-high 25 after halftime, and her jumper with 1:20 remaining cut the deficit to single digits at 67-59 for the first time since it was 15-8.

The Lady Bobcats trailed 67-48 with 3:38 remaining and scored the next 13 points to close the gap to six with 1:11 left.

Terra Branch made two free throws, Reynolds had a layup, and Tonette Murphy's final two free throws sealed the win.

GSW had a first as three Lady Hurricanes ended with double-doubles. Reynolds had 18 and 12 rebounds, Kanita Holloway had 13 pints and 11 rebounds, and Whitley Wiltz had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Branch added 12 points, and she and Holloway each had two threes.

In the teams' first meeting, a 66-48 GCSU win, Antoinette Reames had 16 points and 17 rebounds. This time, she was held to four points and three rebounds, and she fouled out with 5:13 to go.

GCSU shot 27 percent for the game while GSW finished at 43 percent.

The Lady Hurricanes finish their home slate on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when they host North Georgia.
