Rough first half dooms Lady 'Canes

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team managed only four field goals in the opening 20 minutes at Montevallo on Saturday evening, shooting 14 percent from the floor, and could not mount a second half comeback, losing to the Falcons, 75-41, in Peach Belt Conference action.
 
A 19-7 run to start the game provided all the cushion Montevallo would need.  

The Lady Hurricanes trailed 38-12 at the half and fell behind by as many as 40 points midway through the second period. 

Cierra Duhart led GSW with 10 points, connecting on 5 of 8 field goal attempts. Kanita Holloway pulled down eight rebounds.
 
The trio of Tiffany McClure, Kris Seigenthaler and Tiaren Young led Montevallo with 13 points apiece.

Montevallo (5-6, 1-1 PBC) finished with a 28-13 points off turnovers advantage and a 22-10 points in the paint edge. 

The Falcons shot 59.3 percent from the floor for the game, compared to 21.5 percent for GSW.
 
The Lady Hurricanes (6-5, 0-2) travel to Georgia College for a 5:30 p.m. matchup on Wednesday.
