AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team led by two at the half, but could not overcome a Georgia College lead in the final two minutes of the game and lost, 67-59, at the Storm Dome on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Bobcats (16-6, 8-6 PBC) hold the second spot in the PBC West Division, while the Lady Hurricanes (12-11, 6-8 PBC) remain a game ahead of North Georgia and Montevallo for fourth place in the West. The top four teams in each division make the 2011 PBC Championships.

GSW started strong for the second-straight game, scoring 10 unanswered points on Wednesday to take a 10-0 lead with 17:45 remaining in the half. Terra Branch sparked the run hitting back-to-back three-point baskets less than two minutes into the game.

The Bobcats cut the lead to six on four different occasions over the next 11 minutes, but GSW pushed the margin back to 10 at 23-13 with 6:04 left in the half.

Georgia College answered with a 14-6 run to cut the deficit to a basket, 29-27, at the break. 

After GCSU grabbed a quick three-point lead to start the second period, GSW responded with a 9-0 run and regained the lead, 40-34, with 14:29 to play.

Each team would grab the lead four more times over the next 10 minutes.

A Krysta Lewis free throw with 4:36 remaining gave the Bobcats a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way, closing the game on an 11-4 run.

GCSU finished the game shooting 44.6 percent from the floor, including 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Hurricanes finished at 39.7 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from three-point range. GSW struggled at the free throw line, connecting on 7 of 14 attempts.

GSW was led by Jessica Bivins' 19 points. Cierra Duhart recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Branch added 10.  

The Bobcat's Dominique Huffin led all scorers with 20 points. Chimere Jordan chipped in 16 points and five steals.

Southwestern travels to North Georgia on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
