Lady Hurricanes lose by four at North Georgia

DAHLONEGA - A career-high 21 points from Nadirah Gardner was not enough for the Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Memorial Hall as North Georgia completed a season sweep of the Lady Hurricanes with a 78-74 victory.

Gardner was nearly perfect from the floor, connecting on 10 of 12 shots, with her only two misses coming from beyond the arc. Jessica Bivins and Tania Walters each had 14. Kanita Holloway pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lady Saints led by as many as 17 early in the second half, but GSW chipped away at the lead and a pair of free throws from Walters with 3:03 to play brought GSW to within 70-68.

Lindsey Moss scored the next five points and GSW couldn't get any closer. Moss finished with a game-high 28 points, making 8 of 13 field goals and going 12-for-12 at the free-throw line. Jessica Trice added 17.

North Georgia (15-11, 6-9 PBC) shot 52 percent for the game compared with 42.9 percent for GSW. Southwestern scored 33 points off of NGCSU's 29 turnovers. The Lady Saints managed only 12 points off of GSW's 16 miscues.

The Lady Hurricanes (12-12, 6-9 PBC) host Columbus State on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
