AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University junior guard Jessica Bivins and senior guard Jonneshia Pineda have been named 2011 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic for women's basketball. Bivins was named to the 10-member All-Academic Team, while Pineda was one of five players in the conference to receive an honorable mention. 

Bivins, an Orlando, Fla. native, started 15 games - played in all 26 - this past season and averaged a team-high 11.2 points, while grabbing 2.1 rebounds per contest. She was the team's leading scorer in eight games and poured in a season-high 22 points against UNC Pembroke on Jan. 16.

Bivins shot 40.0 percent from three-point range to finish third in the PBC. In conference games, she ranked 14th in scoring with a 12.1 average and finished fourth with 34 three-pointers.

In the classroom, the Exercise Science major owns a 3.34 grade point average and is a member of the PBC Presidential Honor Roll.  

Pineda, a two-year member of the Lady 'Canes, started two games this season and appeared in 19 contests. Over her GSW career, the Smyrna native logged 384 minutes while playing in 44 ballgames.

Pineda scored a career-high seven points against Albany State during her junior campaign, while grabbing a personal-best four rebounds on two occasions last winter. This season, she dished out four assists against West Florida on Dec. 1.

A Marketing major, the Chi Alpha Sigma (National College Athlete Honor Society) and PBC Presidential Honor Roll member holds a 3.36 grade point average.

The All-Academic Team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the court. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must participate in at least half of her team's events; have achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and have completed at least one full academic year at her current institution.
