MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Three days after righting the ship with a 19-point victory over North Georgia, the Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes earned their biggest conference victory since defeating Montevallo 101-57 two months earlier. Saturday's 72-47 victory over the Georgia College Bobcats (4-16, 2-9 PBC) put another notch in GSW's PBC belt.

The starting trio of guards of Tania Walters, Terra Branch and Jessica Bivins each scored 15 points in the victory. The trio was the efficient leaders of the Hurricane offense as the three combined to shoot 17-28 (60.7%). Walters, the Hurricane point guard, would also grab eight rebounds and dish out three assists.

The Lady 'Canes took care of business throughout the box score of Saturday's game. While shooting 43.1% from the field for the game, the Blue & Gold's defense smothered Georgia College into shooting 29.3% from the field and an even worse 20.5% (3-15) shooting from beyond the arc. Furthermore, Georgia Southwestern won the rebounding battle 42-39 and forced the Bobcats into 21 turnovers.

Only two Bobcats would score in double-digits with Shanteona Keys leading the way with 18 points to go along with her six rebounds. She was supported by Belinda Schaafsma with eleven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Lady Hurricanes got out to a comfortable 30-19 lead at halftime after leading for the final 14:25 of the half. It was "iron unkind" for the ladies in the first half compared to the rest of the game. GSW shot only 38.7% (12-31) from the field and 3-10 from three-point range while being out-rebounded by five in the game's first 20 minutes.

The second half was easier sledding for the 'Canes as they put the game out of reach. Coach Britsky and company would use a 28-9 run over the first 13 minutes of the second half to grab a stranglehold on the game. This was fueled by five of eight shooting (62.5%) shooting from deep.

The victory for the Georgia Southwestern Lady Hurricanes pushes their record to 14-6 overall (6-5 PBC). The win keeps the 'Canes in third place in the PBC West Division with six games remaining before the conference tournament.

The Blue & Gold are back in action on Monday evening at 5:30 inside the friendly confines of the Storm Dome. Monday evening's match-up with Columbus State will be "Play 4Kay Night". The evening is dedicated towards breast cancer awareness and all fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
