Lady 'Cane Basketball Signs 2013 Guard

Head coach Kelly Britsky and the Georgia Southwestern women's basketball staff added a talented guard to the Lady Hurricane family Friday, as Neena Carter signed a National Letter of Intent to begin competing for the Blue and Gold in the 2013-14 season.

Carter, a 5-foot-11 guard from Sprayberry H.S. in Marieta. Ga., averaged 17.5 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two blocks per game in her 2011-12 junior season for the Lady Jackets.

Carter was named First Team All Region for the 2011-12 season along with winning the team's Most Improved Player award.

During her career at Sprayberry, Carter has been noted for her all around style of play, including her slashing offensive prowess and defensive capabilities. Described as a point forward, Carter currently holds the school record for steals in a game with 12 takeaways.

Carter opened the 2012-13 season in superb fashion last night as she came up just shy of posting a rare triple-double. Carter finished with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 9 steals, 3 assists and 3 blocks in leading Spreyberry to a 66-54 victory against Etowah High School.
