Georgia Southwestern Drops a 75-54 Contest to Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga - Georgia Southwestern extended their losing streak to seven games Saturday afternoon as Columbus State used a balanced all-around effort to prevail over the Lady Hurricanes, 75-54, in CSU's Lumpkin Center.

In the first period, GSW's cold shooting helped Columbus State jump out to an 18-2 lead eight minutes into the game. The tandem of Chatil Bradford and Taren White combined for 18 first-half points as the Lady Cougars led at the break, 35-24.

In the second half, it was CSU forward Candice Edmundson's turn to shine for the Lady Cougars.

The 5-foot-10 forward notched 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the second half as the Lady 'Canes couldn't get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Columbus State forced 22 Southwestern turnovers which led to 28 points for the Lady Cougars who improved to 10-8, 6-5 in the Peach Belt Conference.

Kabrina Merriweather led GSW with 14 points and eight rebounds while Kayla Dayton chipped in 13 for the Blue & Gold.

Taren White's 17 points led the charge for Columbus State as four players finished in double figures for the Lady Cougars.

Georgia Southwestern drops to 3-15, 1-10 PBC and returns to the court for a much needed home contest versus Lander Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
