GSW Falls Short, Georgia College Prevails, 72-65

AMERICUS, Ga. - A late game Georgia Southwestern rally fell short Saturday evening as Georgia College prevailed, 72-65, in the Storm Dome.

Georgia College's McKenna Rushton had 11 first-half points as the Bobcats shot 50 percent (15-30) from the field on their way to a 42-28 halftime advantage.

Late in the second half, the Lady 'Canes made a final rally cutting a 16 pont deficit to four, 69-65, on a made layup from Shaniece Sheffield, with just under a minute remaining in the game.

GC's Enisha Donley answered as her layup with 33 seconds remainging extended Georgia College's lead to 71-65, and the Bobcats made their free throws to prevail, 72-65.

Sheffield paced Georgia Southwestern (3-19, 1-13 PBC) as she notched 16 points. Stormey Smith was the other Lady 'Cane to post double digits as she chipped in 10 points and five assists. 

Donley led the Georgia College (12-9, 8-6 PBC) with 18 points while Rushton finished with 16 points, including 3-4 from behind the arc.

Georgia Southwestern will be back in action Feb. 13 as the Lady 'Canes travel to Montevallo for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
