GSW Women's Basketball Hurricane Highlight #2: McSwain's Stellar Freshman Campaign

AMERICUS- The No. 2 Hurricane Highlight of the 2012-13 Georgia Southwestern women's basketball season came from Lady 'Cane forward Jasmine McSwain's stellar freshman campaign.

McSwain, a native of Marietta Ga., started her collegiate career off fast as the 5-foot-10 forward earned Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honors after averaging 19.5 points and 3.5 steals in the opening weekend of the season at the McDonald Flemming Moorhead Tip-Off Classic in Pensacola, Fla.

McSwain finished as Georgia Southwestern's leading scorer and rebounder, after averaging 12 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest.

In addition, McSwain ranked 12th in the Peach Belt Conference in scoring and led all other freshman in both scoring and rebounding.

"For a rookie to come in and produce like McSwain did, especially right off the bat, is impresive." GSW head coach Kelly Britsky said. "I'm extremely excited about her potential and I'm looking forward to her future growth within our program."

Tomorrow GSWCanes.com will unveil the top Hurricane Highlight of the 2012-13 Lady Hurricane basketball season.
