GSW Women's Basketball Hurricane Highlight #1: Lady 'Canes Offensive Explosion

AMERICUS - The top Hurricane Highlight of the 2012-13 season came off a balanced Lady Hurricane offensive attack as Georgia Southwestern earned their first Peach Belt Conference win of the season as GSW posted a season-high 97 points as the Blue & Gold outlasted conference newcomer Young Harris, 97-89, on January 5 in the Storm Dome.

Five Lady 'Canes finished in double figures led by Shaniece Sheffield who finished with a career-best 20 points.

GSW point guard Stormey Smith also notched a career-high as she finished with 17 points, 12 in the second half, and six assists.

Guard Danisha Green continued the trend as her 16 points, 12 in the second half, was also a personal best.

Freshman forward Jasmine McSwain finished with 16 points on the afternoon.

Senior forward Briana Walker finished with a career best-tying 15 points to round out the five Lady Cane double digit scorers.

The 97 points was the most a GSW team scored since December 4, 2011, when the Hurricanes posted 101 points in a 101-57 victory against Montevallo.

Southwestern finished the game shooting a season-best 50 percent from the field (32-64) including a season-most 12 three pointers.
