Britsky Looks To Lockett Inside

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head women's basketball coach Kelly Britsky has announced the addition of Shanedra Lockett to the Lady Hurricane squad for the 2013-14 season.

Lockett, a 5-foot-10 forward, transfers to GSW after spending two seasons at Middle Georgia State College.

"We are very excited to have Shanedra as part of the GSW family," said Britsky. "She is a great athlete that can do a little bit of everything on the court, but offenses are going to hate facing her hard-nosed defense."

A Roberta native, Lockett was selected to the 2012-13 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference second team after averaging 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. She finished 12th in the state in steals with 2.5 per game while helping the Knights to a 16-10 record.

"She has a great ability to get to the rim and score, but can hurt you from the outside if left alone," said Britsky. "She has a knack for the ball and whether it is pulling down a big rebound or getting a steal, Shanedra will be fun to watch."

Lockett scored in double figures 23 times last season with a season-high 23 points coming on Jan. 9 at Chattahoochee Technical College. She posted seven double-doubles and snagged a season-best 20 rebounds on Feb. 6 at East Georgia College.

Lockett played her high school ball at Crawford County.
