AMERICUS – It was a record breaking night for Georgia Southwestern. Danyelle Jones set a new school record for most assists in a game. The Lady Hurricanes collectively attempted a top record three point attempt shooting night in the NCAA era.

Jones finished the game with 10 assists. Jones set the GSW record for most assists in a game, during the time GSW has been in the NCAA. The last Lady 'Cane to hold the record was Terra Branch against Georgia College on 2/22/12 with 8 assists.

The Lady Hurricanes came out hot. In the first five minutes the Lady 'Canes were only interrupted twice on their scoring frenzy.  In the opening minutes of the game Shatoria Hudson, Shaniece Sheffield, Jones, Tiara Thompson, and Jasmine McSwain collectively scored 17 points. The tone had been set for the rest of the match. As the Lady 'Canes kept the Lady Braves in a second scoring hiatus with between 7:43 to 2:52. GSW led at half 51-23.

It was a double-digit half for Hudson and Sheffield. Hudson was 7-for-10 from the field scoring 15 points. Sheffield was 4-for-5 from the field, adding 10 points during the half.

Over the course of the second half, UNC Pembroke out-scored GSW 36 to 29. It was a little too late for the Lady Brave with GSW controlling the lead and tempo of the game. GSW had even scoring across the roster in the second half. The Lady Hurricanes held their largest lead over the Lady Braves with 1:29 to go, in the second half, by 30 points.

Hudson finished the game with 19 points achieving a new career record. Hudson's previous record was set at 17 points against Converse College on December 16, 2013. Hudson matched her best rebound with 8. Sheffield scored a season best of 14 points and grabbed a season best of 4 rebounds. Shanedra Lockett and Sierra Barrino-Kennedy each added 10 points.

The top three games for most attempted 3pt shots by GSW have all been against UNC Pembroke (during GSW's NCAA era). In 2009 and 2010 they had 26 attempts. This game matched 2013 with 25 attempts. The Lady Hurricanes were able to reach 10-for-25 from beyond the arc, in tonight's game.

The Lady Hurricanes improve their record to 6-5, 1-3 PBC and the Lady Braves move on to a 5-7, 1-4 PBC. The last win for GSW against UNC Pembroke came January 13, 2011. UNC Pembroke still leads the overall record at 8-2.
