Davis Joins Women's Basketball Program

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head women's basketball coach Kelly Britsky has announced the addition of Miranda Davis to the Lady Hurricane squad for the 2014-15 season.

Davis, a 5-foot-10 post player, averaged a double-double last year at Greene County High School (Ga.), scoring 15.8 points per game and pulling down 14 rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Davis received All-State Honorable Mention in Class AA of the Georgia High School Association by the Georgia Sports Writers Association. She was selected twice to the 8-AA All-Region First Team. A two-year team captain, Davis was the top-scoring center in the region in 2013-14 and ranked 8th overall.

The Greensboro, Ga. native was a multi-sport athlete at GCHS as she played softball for the Lady Tigers - earning team MVP and all-region recognition in 2011 - and joined the track team this year. Davis went on to win every shot put competition she competed in, including the region meet, before finishing runner up at the state competition. Her top throw at state would have placed in the top 3 in Class AAAAA.

While at GCHS, Davis was involved in a number of additional extracurricular activities including the JROTC (Second Lieutenant) and marching band where she served as drum major for two years. Davis holds a 3.75 GPA, which is in the top 20 percent of her class, and has been on the A/B Honor Roll all four years.

Davis plans to major in education/history with a minor in pre-law. She is the daughter of Fitzgerald and Eula Davis.
